What Our A / B / C Grading Really Means

Every refurbished listing you'll see from us carries a grade — A, B or C. It's one of the most important details on the page, but also one of the most misunderstood. Here's exactly what each grade means, and just as importantly, what it doesn't.

Grade A — Excellent Condition

Grade A devices show minimal signs of previous use. Expect a clean chassis, an unmarked or near-unmarked screen, and no significant scuffs or scratches. These are the closest you'll get to a "like new" look in refurbished stock.

Grade B — Good Condition, Light Signs of Use

Grade B is our most common grade, and represents excellent value. These units may show light cosmetic wear — small scuffs on the lid or base, minor marks that don't affect the screen's clarity — but nothing that affects how the device performs.

Grade C — Fair Condition, Visible Wear

Grade C devices have more noticeable cosmetic wear — visible scratches, more pronounced scuffing, or signs of heavier previous use. They're fully functional and tested to the same standard as every other grade; the difference is purely how the device looks, not how it works.

What Grading Does NOT Affect

This is the part that catches people out: grading is a cosmetic rating only. Every device we sell — regardless of grade — passes the exact same functional testing: performance, battery, display, ports and overall diagnostics. Every device also carries the exact same 12-month warranty. A Grade C laptop is not a functional gamble; it's simply a laptop that shows more signs of having been used before.

What About Items Marked "Tested"?

Smaller components — SSDs, hard drives, RAM and accessories — don't carry a cosmetic A, B or C grade, since visible wear isn't really relevant to how well a memory stick or cable performs. Instead, these are simply marked Tested: each one is checked and confirmed to be fully working before it's listed, held to the same reliability standard as our graded laptops and desktops.

Why Honest Grading Matters

Vague or inflated grading is one of the most common complaints about buying refurbished tech online. We grade conservatively and describe listings accurately, because a customer who receives exactly what they expected is far more valuable to us than a slightly higher sale price today.
